{TOS Review} How to Have a H.E.A.R.T. for Your Kids

Yay for my first TOS Crew review! :)

I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel Carman at our local homeschool book fair. I was excited to have the chance to review her book.  And, I wasn’t disappointed.  In fact, I loved it. This book spoke directly to my heart. It was challenging, encouraging, and convicting all at the same time.

Mrs. Carman uses the acronym H.E.A.R.T. to outline how we, as parents, can turn our hearts to our children to prepare them for a life that will glorify God. In short, she states that we must
  • H- Have a Heart for the Things of God
  • E – Enrich Your Marriage
  • A – Accept Your Kids
  • R – Release Them to God
  • T – Teach Them the Truth
The book was really eye opening.  I was looking forward to a light-hearted look at how I can further turn my heart toward my children. Instead, this book revealed areas in my life (and in my relationship with my husband and with the Lord) where I could use some refining. I want to prepare my children not only for a life outside my house, but for a lifetime of serving the Lord. To do that, I need to regroup, refocus, and PRAY!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for encouragement for homeschooling and better understanding your kiddos.
